Montana Bound!

Welcome back,

If you are reading this page than I have no doubt that you have a proverbial fire burning inside you right now. This fire may be hounding you daily to consistently be doing and achieving more (or at least knowing you’re capable of so much more). This fire is a great thing! This inner drive we possess may make you a success and keep you reaching for greater things in your life. I say “may” in the last sentence because your future is in your hands. You do have what it takes to achieve your goals.

For my first few years investing in real estate (2002-2005ish) I over pushed myself (forced or bullied myself is a more accurate word) to constantly stay active and remain busy in my local real estate trenches. I encouraged myself daily (60-80 hour weeks) to focus on the basics over and over and over again. A big motivation was an unrational fear of losing out on an opportunity or perhaps the fear of simply nothing to do.

Adopting the traits below really helped start to change my attitude from axienty-based towards gratitiude-filled and a strong healthy-motivation.

1. Motivational Dissatisfaction: To be grateful of where you currently are in life and what you have; however you are still actively striving to achieve more daily.

2. The Power of No: The power of No can often times be more valuable than the word, Yes. Guard your free time and work time like they are Gold! Keep your attention laser focused on your core mission. Outsource what is possible and take action daily.

Pro Tip: There is a great book written on this exact topic. The Power Of No by James and Claudia Azula Altucher.

3. Micro-Vacations: Spending 5 days in Kalispell, Montana during Oktoberfest with some amazing friends will be a trip I won’t forget. I am grateful every day that I’m able to own properties, help buyers own property, and help others investors buy/sell mobile homes daily. I truly consider myself one of the most fortunate people on the planet. Make sure to be:

  1. Setting your goals high.
  2. Having a realistic plan to achieve your goals,.
  3. Take daily action working your plan.
  4. Making corrections and asking questions as needed.
  5. Rewarding yourself (and your family) with micro-vacations.

This is all very much easier said than done… It always is. Actions speak so much louder than words. With that said you do have what it takes to become a success in almost any business you wish to focus on and pursue.

Thank you for reading along… Let’s pretend we are sitting together and I’m flipping through some pictures showing you my trip. The picture above is of Flathead Lake, outside of Kalispell. I’m the guy all the way on the left and the rest of these characters are old friends I have known for almost 20 years. I love that while some people are in our lives for only brief moments, there are other loved-ones who we are so fortunate to know for years and years.

Pro Tip: Tell someone you haven’t talked to in a while that you love them.

In the picture above I’m sitting right where we were all standing. I couldn’t get anyone to sit next to me for the picture. The time was late October however the temperature really wasn’t that cold, perhaps in the 50’s. I certainly don’t stand up to cold temperatures well.

The pictures above and below were captured not too far off the side of a highway. Montana really does have some of the most beautiful landscape I’ve ever seen. I’m so happy to live in a country that has such a diverse topography and landscape. Whether you want to live by the beach or the mountains, cold or hot, you certainly have the options.

The picture below is on the first day we all met in Kalispell and got off our planes. We didn’t waste time and quickly headed to an Oktoberfest beerparty happening downtown.

  • The Locals = Immediately friendly.
  • Landscape = Prettier than Texas. Sorry Texas.
  • Beer = Delicious, however I’m not too hard to impress.

While I do not have any proof or pictures, you’ll have to take my word that me and the gentleman all the way to the right (in the picture below) WON 1st place in the Men’s Log Sawing competition at the Oktoberfest festival! We were by far the 2 smallest guys in the competition, however our saw never got jammed once. Plus it didn’t hurt that all our competition was tipsy/drunk, and we were still fairly sober at this point.

Thank you so much for following along. I do hope this article has been helpful in sharing some things that have helped me and others over the years. Remember that your journey to success is a journey. Have fun every day and make sure you’re spending time with people you love and respect. If you are currently working a side-business than I strongly encourage you to spend time weekly with like-minded entrepreneurs and go-getters.

Love what you do daily,
John Fedro

Three Week SXSW Road Trip and National Speaking Event

Welcome back,

This website is a side project that shines a light on some of the fun, food, friends, and traveling that a portfolio of real estate property can afford you. Whether you are currently self-employed or work a 9-5, a goal in this life is to be happy, healthy, and successful by any standards we hold for ourselves.

Come with me over the next few posts as we travel around the Southwestern states of the USA and see some amazing sites, meet new friends, and learn new things. Some cities we go big and lavish, and other cities we make friends by couch-surfing or camping. The memories are unforgettable and the experience is  something that can only be lived personally.

With that said get excited and know these types of trips and vacations are waiting for you.

Outline of our trip:

  1. Austin, TX (Start)
  2. Albuquerque, NM
  3. Grand Canyon, AZ
  4. Sequoya National Forest, CA
  5. San Francisco, CA
  6. Los Angeles, CA
  7. Las Vegas, NV
  8. Tombstone, AZ
  9. Austin, TX (Finish)

This trip starts out with the idea that me and close friend are going to see some amazing sites along our journey to Las Vegas. Las Vegas was the only real destination we had to make on this trip. 16 days after starting our journey I was set to speak in front of a national stage of guests that all wished to learn  about investing in real estate and in manufactured homes as a source of additional income.

I was honored to be asked to speak at this nationally recognized event.

Our trip starts out with leaving my home town of Austin, TX and traveling by car to Albuquerque, NM. Not knowing anyone and wanting to get a first class tour we made plans to couch surf with a local friend (Alex) in his spare bedroom. If you have never used the website couchsurfing.com it is a must have for all travelers out there. Some of the nicest and most genuine people I have met have been from couch surfing. Disclaimer: I have only couch surfed 6 times, however it is amazing every time.

While in Albuquerque we were able to have some of the most amazingly simple Mexican food of my life. The simplicity of the food and few ingredients really highlighted the flavor and smell in every bite. In the morning we were greeted by the largest hot air balloon festival in the south.

The roar of the balloon filling up, the coolness of the morning air, the friendly faces everywhere, and exciting prospect that tonight (day 2) we would be sleeping in the Grand Canyon made this morning a memory I won’t soon forget.

We said goodbye to our host Alex and we’re off to our next adventure “The Grand Canyon”.

In my next post we’ll be mule riding, cliff hanging, and having camping adventures. Thanks for coming along.

Love what you do daily,
